Amongst stress and anxiety, depression in children is one of the top mental health conditions that young people face.
Depression is an extreme feeling of hopelessness, sadness and lack of self esteem. Everyone feels sad sometimes, but when a child is depressed, the sadness or low feelings are so extreme or may be so persistent, that they feel prevented from doing ordinary everyday things.
Young people suffering with depression may experience symptoms which can be identified as they are outside of what has been the usual character of the young person. They may appear more unhappy than usual and may experience physical ailments such as headaches, stomach problems, sleep issues, weight problems and lose interest in in previously enjoyable activities instead becoming introverted and sullen. In worst cases the child may also talk about not valuing their life and may contemplate suicide.
Depression is often difficult for children and young people to articulate so symptoms of this will often be identified from the young persons behaviour only.
In this one day workshop, our NLP4Kids practitioner will share with you strategies and techniques that have effectively helped many children and young people tackle feeling of depression and improve their emotional state. We will also give you the key ways in which you can identify depression from general sadness.
